I dodged a real bullet today...

I was in a Publix shopping center, near University and Atlantic Blvd. I found two active credit cards, and a non-expired driver's license sitting right on top, in the trash, when I went to throw something away. The driver's license had been replaced; because apparently DMV puts the month, date, and year, when this happens. If I have contact info, or an address when I find something; I will usually contact the victim directly; figuring that they would want their stuff returned ASAP! However... My gut intuition kept telling me to turn the items over to the police; even though I came close to changing my mind. When I arrived at the station, I told the officer where I found the items. I asked him if I should turn them into them, or the owner of the property? He said that he wanted to look their info up first, to see if maybe it was involved in a robbery; or they reported the items lost, and/or stolen. The officer about had a cow when he saw the info... Apparently... This guy (who was up in age)...had a rap sheet so long, he told me that it was mind boggling. All arrests were listed as felonies. The majority of the felonies were for assaults mainly against women, and a few men. The officer told me their pass records indicated that this guy has spent most of his life in and out of jail/prison. In fact... He just got out of the joint, the other day. He told me that these items could have been deliberately placed there, to setup his next victim; which could well have been me, had I not listened to my inner intuition. The officer said that they will probably contact him, to find out his story concerning how the items ended up in the trash; placed right on top for anyone to easily find. Who knows... He could have been watching me, to see what I would do. As I was leaving... The officer told me that the likelihood of me getting a reward from this guy, will be slim to none...but hoped that good karma would come to me, in another way.

Geez, it is insane what people come up with to try and scam someone. That's another type of person that obviously the prison system is not rehabilitating him, I just hope that something can get through to these kind of people who all they do is take, lie, and scheme to get ahead in life.

It was nice of you to bring the items to the police station. My husband found a wallet the other day while walking to the bus, and he was able to return it to the woman's husband.

Good that your intuition was right and thank heavens, that guy did not suddenly show up and approach you. You really got lucky.
