Today I may look normal

I got up and washed my hair! This is big. I was able to do it and there was no pain and all the horrid gunk and dried up blood etc from the last week is gone. I was not able to even touch behind my ear before today. Now I am waiting for said hair to dry and hoping the brushing will also be painless. I have not touched a pain killer. I have a special chicken alexander to cook for lunch and just before I am taking the last oral antibiotic. I still have the external one till next Monday and this will mess my hair up a bit but at least sometime today I wll get dressed and look a bit normal. My only regret is I am not really quite able to take the Alpha course at the detention centre today and will leave that to my co-facilitator, but I am looking forward to taking the Remembrance day service at the weekend and think now I will be fit to do so. I have to get on with the online course and have a lot of catching up to do. It feels like surfacing from a ditch, or finally getting cleaned up after falling into a bog. Clean at last! It just kind of helps to write it down.

Glad you were able to get up and take a shower and feel all nice and cleaned. When I'm not feeling well I don't like showering either. I shower every day though for work but on the weekends if I'm not doing anything then I don't.

I like to have a bath each day and prefer my hair clean as it is so long.

I'm sure you feel much better and cleaner now. My doctor came to visit me at home, and marched me upstairs to take a shower the day aver surgery - hair and all. I did feel much better afterwards.

For the last week I have screamed if anyone touched where the infection was, and they told me to keep it dry. I have had baths with my head out of water so I was not completely unwashed!

@Jackalyn I feel your pain. Baths sound much better than a shower and more relaxing.

That is so good to hear. I am sure it feels so much better. I like to write stuff down here as well. It serves as a mini diary or journal. Writing things down also helps to sort things out.

It is wierd as when something like this happens I don't even mind if nobody notices or reads. It just feels like I had someone to say it to when alone.

I am glad you were able to wash your hair, it's horrible when you feel your hair is sticky and you cannot wash it.

I thought I had managed well and now I think it will have to be repeated on the side where the infections were as I just feel sticky still.

@Jackalyn I think a few more days are needed until the wound fully closes.
