Diary 6th To 8th November 2018

Diary Tuesday 6th November 2018 Day two on the useless pre-employment agency registration course. All but three of the course attendees didn't bother coming back, which actually helped the course get more relaxed and we got through the set work more quickly and got home early. As there are now too few of us to cater for on site, we were given cash for the week to cover lunch expenses so by bringing my own food in for the remains of the week I actually gain some money. My landlord is someone to do some tiling repairs on my flat tomorrow, and they have access to a key so I don't need to be in. I spent the evening tidying the flat and hoovering ready. Diary Wednesday 7th November 2018 Day three on the course and it is now quite routine. Though useless it was quite pleasant. We looked at safety signs for in the workplace and then had to colour some of them in. I felt like I was back in kindergarden. After we finished early I checked out a local bar, The Market Ale House in Leyland, which is very nice. Then I came home, seeing that the house work was done, and I relaxed for the night. Diary Thursday 8th November 2018 My penultimate day on the course. Much of it was just paperwork and signing forms. I also had to reshow my ID as the copies photographed at the start of the course were badly photographed. After the course I did a little shopping before popping in another Leyland pub, The Gables which served lovely beer, and it is quite a big pub. I got a reply to my query to the welfare people over them reducing my rent compared to what I paid prior to October's change to the new system. Their scary answer to this was that they must have paid me too much before rather than too little now. This could be very problematic, especially if they decide to try claiming back what they are convincing themselves they overpaid me. That's very worrying for you, but surely they wouldn't be able to claim back something that was their fault?

I was once overpaid for eight months in a new position. They wanted it back. Legally they can claim it back because it's their money.

It's a good idea to bring your food and keep the money. The reply from welfare people is scary indeed, I hope they will not decide to ask for some money back.

@arthurchappell I am not sure they would be allowed to ask you to give them back money. That was possibly an excuse, at least I hope.

Glad the course worked out to be profitable, if only in a small way. Did they give you a gold star for your colouring-in?

@jstory07 they pay me the rent to pass on to my landlord - they can simply reduce the payments if they so desire - it will force me to pay the difference
