Stressed

I have a mandatory training in about 12 hours and it's a training I really don't need. It's mostly a training on how to deal with special needs people biting, hitting, kicking and grabbing at you. The only one I take care of is my nephew who does none of those things because he is mostly bed bound unless I get him out of the bed. I have no idea how many people will be in this training or who the instructors are but I hope its the same people from the last time. I don't do well with strangers and there is one move that requires 2 people to take someone down to the ground and we have to be on our knees. That is the only move that I wasn't sure about the last time. Needless to say, I am feeling stressed and to be honest, it's probably for no reason. They go over all the moves before we do them for the "test" or at least we did the last time and there is alot of times where we have to watch videos.

Yea I know. I'm also CPR certified as part of my job. I often stress about things way more than I should so I'm sure it will turn out fine.

Good luck on your test. What helps me is to take 3 big breaths so I can relax before anything I need to be tested upon. I think positive thoughts so I'll be relaxed and remember for the test. Relax and it'll be a breeze for you've done this before so it'll be a refresher course like for you...you'll do fine to excellent so don't worry!

Thank you. I don't do well with having to touch people I don't know and last year when I took this course (its an every year thing) , during one of the breaks the instructors were remarking on how gentle we all were. We didn't give her one bruise. Usually when people do the training they are nervous and tend to grab harder than what they would've normally.

@CountryGirl31 That's splendid! One thing when a person is in a situation, like this one you get to be defensive, which is not helping to me, a soothing voice can dissolve things, but best to listen to your instructors about things.

I have done the Mandt training and the CPI, both designed to do what you say. Actually designed to keep everyone safe and perhaps avoid the interventions. I am sure you did fine. The training makes me anxious too. Some of it is very good to know, though, for general life with the crazy people on the street.

It is good to know but another thing is that I haven't been to the building this training is in for over a year and I have to drive an hour there, an hour back. I'm a very careful driver so I'm going to leave early for the training that way if I have to go slow, due to snow as we are supposed to be getting snow tomorrow, or an accident or something.
