When does a kitten become a cat or a puppy become a dog??!

Is there a scientific time when you stop calling them kitten or puppy and call them a cat or dog? Does it depend on age or weight or looks? Or is it just human preference or owner preference. Does a cat get offended when called a kitten and says "I'm grown up now. Don't call me a baby!" Random thoughts on a Saturday morning for you to ponder and respond!!

@Janet357 I just noticed that you have a pet as your profile pic. Is that a puppy or a dog?

Yes it is the age @pitstop . 6 months old determines for both.

@pitstop That's why it's also crucial to have the animal spayed or neutered at that age because they can and do start having babies.

I've just read another post but kittens becoming cats. Some cats stay as playful as kittens well into old age.
