The Tingler

A Vincent Price movie was on Svengoolie tonight. Price plays Dr. Warren Chapin whose job it is to do autopsies on executed prisoners at the State prison. He is a pathologist and has a theory that fear is actually the result of a creature that lives in each one of us. This creature is suppressed by our ability to scream. This movie is said to be one of the best horror movies ever made. Director William Castle couples with Vincent Price again in 1959 after the previous movie "House on Haunted Hill" success. They actually collaborated on five movies total along with writer Robb White. So, if you are in a dark room and get scared remember to scream or the tingler will get you.

I love Svengoolie, Vincent Price and William Castle. When all three of them get together, it's really magical.

When I visited a friend in Victoria a couple three years ago, we watched Svengoolie do his stuff. I think one of the things he showed was an episode of The Brady Bunch where Marcia is put under the spell of Martin Mull playing a wind instrument... Of course I can't find anything to corroborate this so I must have been drinking at the time...

Vincent Price was a great horror movie actor. Though I don't like horror, I have seen a couple of his movies that didn't keep me up all night.
