The dog that lives in the house infront of my building did not pay attention to me

We have this house in front of our building and I had to go out this morning and the dog was sitting inside the area inside the gate of his or her house. He sort of looked up but really did not pay attention to me. I think he knows me by now. When he first saw me he barked and then I talked to him in a nice voice and he stopped. He had the look of sort of indifferent toward me.

He is now used to your smell. That is why even if he won't look at you, he knows already who you are by just your smell. Dogs have a great sense of smell.

@SIMPLYD Yes, I believe he is used to me. I know animals know people that are good to them.

It sounds like it is good that the dog ignores you now. He has gotten used to you and knows you belong there.

Awww, that's nice that you befriended the dog. He was probably too tired to interact with you.

@DianneN That could be because he is an older dog but he still has a mighty bark. I heard him when I was trying to sleep last night but then he stopped on his own.

@Janet357 I don't think he will. He is inside his gate and I believe he knows who I am.
