Dreaming about an ex

What does it mean when one dream about an ex? I always have this dream of being together with my ex who I was involved with some 20 years ago. I have been single for sometime and dreaming of that ex gives excitement somehow. What could that mean?

Some of my ex’s I have remained friends with. If that is the case and I have a dream about them. I will usually message them to make sure they are ok. If it’s one I’m not friends with I just try to put it out of my mind

@mom24kids, some of my ex's have remained as friends, there is just this one particular one who is recurring in my dream who seemed to be very evasive. On one occasion that I have to meet him up for some official business, he did not bother looking at me, he was directing his gaze on my colleague.
