In one of his raging tweets against France today, the Real Donald Trump accuses France to charge «big Tariffs» on US wines : «On Trade, France makes excellent wine, but so does the U.S. The problem is that France makes it very hard for the U.S. to sell its wines into France, and charges big Tariffs, whereas the U.S. makes it easy for French wines, and charges very small Tariffs. Not fair, must change! 5:07 AM - 13 Nov 2018 16,942 Retweets 65,075 Likes» I am sure that the people who re-twitted this never went to France. Or they do not drink wine. The tariffs we have on foreign wines are very low, so low that US wines are 2 or 3 times less expensive in France than in the USA. The cheaper wine in Aldi supermarkets in France actually is a Californian wine sold 0.99 Euros/bottle. I do not know what you get for this price, I have not the courage to taste any 1 Euro/bottle wine, and my liver is grateful for this lack of courage. When it comes to high quality Californian wines like Phels insignia, they are about 30 to 50% cheaper in France, starting at 70 Euros. I do not think I can give a link to a commercial page, but you can control it by yourself by doing a Google search in French on «prix vin Californien», price Californian wine. If US wines represent only 1% of the wines sold in France, it is not because of «big Tariffs», it is because, when it comes to food and wine the French is «locavorous», he eats and drinks preferably local products. We are educated very young to appreciate and recognize good bordeaux and bourgogne wines. Both my grandfathers were winemakers, and they would have killed me if I had told them that there was something like an «excellent» foreign wine. I am a bit perverted, and I buy foreign wines times to times, but I would not dare to serve a foreign wine when I have guests, it is not in our culture ; they are alright in a restaurant serving foreign cuisine (Italian, Spanish, Greek...), but not alright enough for guests at home. I wrote it in the title : we are really not fair. UPDATE : I found these "big Tariffs". Wines coming from the USA are taxed when they enter in the EU at 32 Euros/100 liters, i.e. 24 cents/bottle of 75cl, and it is free (no tariff) to send less than 100 liters, so it is favorable to great/expensive wines.

Trump doesn't know what he is talking about on this subject or pretty much anything else. I particularly liked when he tweeted "MAKE FRANCE GREAT AGAIN" this morning. Idiot!

I read that. The problem is that whatever he tells his supporters take it like gospel truth. He started to insult Macron on Friday, and he continued today, I hope it will not become a habit.

@NJChicaa I also fear that, and it is not good for our countries.

@topffer His supporters are absurd with the way they blindly support everything he says and does. He lies every single day and they still support him. I'm sure he will continue to insult Macron for awhile. . . until some new target attracts his attention.

Trump, to be truthful, has no idea what he is talking about when it comes to tariffs or trade deficits or most anything to do with the real world. His college professors say he was one of the stupidest students they ever taught and he only received his degree because his father donated huge amounts of money to the college to give the degree to his idiot son.

Trump would probably criticise you for being bigoted and xenophobic! But then he does say 'America first!' so why should French people not say 'France first!'

Trump does not understand anything to France and the EU. My roots told me to respond to this one, but his last tweets about France are nonsense. He used the terror attack in Strasbourg where the attacker was a French born in Strasbourg, to tell that he would strengthen the US borders. Probably very useful to protect Mexico against terrorists coming from the US. The best was when he told that the yellow jackets were saying "We want Trump". They want to see again a wealth tax removed by Macron, Trump would not like that. What is terrible is that some Americans are believing this BS.

No nation is perfect. I do not consider these tweets like expressing the opinion of your country, French and Americans appreciate each other.
