Get ready to pay more for a stamp.
On Tuesday, the Postal Regulatory Commission approved a U.S. Postal Service request for the largest-ever increase in the cost of a stamp.
The cost of a Forever stamp will rise from 50 cents to 55 cents, a 10 percent increase. Metered letters will go from 47 cents to 50 cents though the cost for each additional ounce will actually fall from 21 cents to 15 cents.
The 5 cent increase in stamp costs is the largest since 1991, when prices increased from 25 cents to 29 cents, a 16 percent hike.
The new rates will take effect on Jan. 27, 2019.
I used to send cards to my Dad for his birthday and the holidays. Unfortunately now that he is gone I probably won't have the need for stamps any more.

Again? And a whopper this time. I guess they raise quick revenue but in the long run just lose more business in this online world.

Why does the government think people will continue to buy stamps?

Geesh, they just had an increase to 50 cents in January? They did not even wait for the New Year to increase rates again What would Ben Franklin say? I guess a penny saved is a penny more for the post office

Wow, that's a big jump. I don't use them very often...but that's not good to see either way.

I haven't even renewed my Postal ID yet which I know is more expensive now.
Unless it's important, don't sent any mail yet.
