I tried to make a digital painting of sorts, like I would do if I were actually painting. I kept the background very simple, added some mountains, and trees. The green colors on the bottom is supposed to be grass...but I need to work on that aspect more. What do you all think about this design? © Courtney Dutton 2018

two notes- you have a nice gradient in the sky, so why not do something similar for the land? also, atmospheric perspective dictates the mountain in front would be darker than the one behind it..

Well I'm still working on the grass part, thinking I should use something else for that part. And I had it white on the mountains where the black is, but I messed that up when I was working with the layering. This was just the first experiment trying it this way. Thank you for your input!

@ledante Well thank you! And that is a fair point. I did want to get the perspective right, but I forgot to make it white afterwards. And that's great that you got a traditional background, so that makes sense to follow them

@MommyOfEli2013 you have a solid foundation here, and you don't have to do atmospheric perspective if you don't want to. I've got a traditional background, so I generally follow the old masters...

It's kind of cool. The clouds are extremely detailed, yes the grass and mountains are "simple." Are you going to keep tweaking it?

Thank you, I love the cloud brushes I have. The grass is that way just because I'm practicing this new style. I don't know if I'll tweak this one....I will keep practicing this style though.
