This organization is part of the Surfrider Foundation headquartered in San Clemente, CA. Their overall mission is the protection of the world's oceans, waves and beaches. They test coastal waters for bacteria, fight to keep public access to beaches and much more. There are about 140 chapters in the US and Canada. If you live near the coastal areas, there is probably a chapter near you.
I had never heard of this organization before Anne ran across a photo on their local site and got permission to make a quilt for a show called "Shifting Tides, Convergence In Cloth." She put this one together pretty quickly and it became one of my favorites. I really like the colors, the people restoring beach grass, the vegetation and that little boat out there too.
I am glad to know that there is such an active organization for beach and ocean protection.

That organization reminds me of the real life version of a television series that played on A F R T S television in the early 1970s called "Primus" which starred Mike Brown as Primus. (Not the rock band.)
