What a year for the grandsons

As most of the people here know about my oldest grandson going into the Navy and is a Mine man with the Seal team. He is now in the middle east, which is not really that great for us but it is his future and happiness that is important to all the family.
My youngest grandson just got his acceptance letter to Johnson and Wales in Rhode Island. He has always wanted to be a chef and it looks like his dreams are coming true. Besides being accepted, he also got a few scholarships which helps a lot.
He has been working in a restaurant for quite awhile after starting off in Panera Bread for months. He loves his present restaurant and the owner loves him and gives him so much help. One day he was left in the kitchen and the owner of the restaurant covered the floor for the customers.
My grandson had 5 stoves going as it was a Sunday morning and very busy. He loved it. He has ADHD since a young child and all is energy is really paying off now. He does drive many of us crazy as he doesn't stop going but that is what makes him so special. He is truly like the energizer bunny.
We all wondered what he would be able to do as he had 5 holes in his heart when he was born. After a few surgeries, the surgeons closed up 2 of them and the others eventually closed on there own. He still has to go to a heart specialist and cannot play many sports, but we all got through this together and the lord certainly answered all our prayers. We thank him everyday.
I hope he loves his new adventure and has a great life as a chef.
Who knows where this will lead him. I am so happy to be a part of it.

He will be about an hour and a half away from where we live, Providence is a great city to go to school in. I wish him all the best.

@ramapo17 Providence is the Renaissance city of the northeast, it has undergone major revitalization in the last 20 years.

@BelleStarr Did you get any snow in this last storm the other day? New Jersey and New York were hit bad with it. I lived in the northeast all my life until we moved to Florida 4 years ago. I miss the northeast a lot. I like the change in weather and love my winter clothes.

What a wonderful story. I remember a book about choosing musical instruments for children to learn depending on their characters. The on-the-go children it suggested would enjoy percussion where the instruments are changing all the time while the very laid-back kids might be better on say a tuba. It was an interesting thought.

@Courtlynn I think sometimes on the job training is better than any schooling for certain things. Where he lives he goes to regular high school in the morning and does the normal things like math, science, chemistry and history and then goes to a technical school for culinary.
His boss in the restaurant where he works has taught him a lot and gives him a lot of responsibilities.

@ramapo17 He went to a technical high school for culinary arts, and graduated so wanted to go to that college. But didn't end up having the funds, and didn't think he'd get any scholarships.. but all of his jobs have been with restaurants

"all is energy is really paying off " I didn't/don't have ADHD but working in the restaurant business 38 years the one thing I always had was plenty of energy! He'll do fine, especially after he opens his own restaurant!

Thanks. I have confidence in him as both of the grandsons are go getters and accomplished so much already.

Thank you. I can't believe I am this age already to see all this. I am also impressed that I can still be in touch with my grandson in the middle East. I am so grateful for all this modern technology.

Wow, Nancy, that is awesome of your grandson! I hope he truly succeeds as a chef. It's such a lost art skill these days, so it is awesome when someone has the desire and talent to pursue being a chef. I've always been envious of those who are pros at cooking, because I definitely don't have the talent. Somehow, I'm the guy that can figure out how to burn water. haha
