A scary school memory

Do you have specific memories from Elementary School that had such an affect on you that you have never forgotten it? I remember specifically something that happened in first grade. There was a heavy connector door between my classroom and the other classroom. The teacher said many times about being careful with that heavy door because it could crush a child's finger. Well, one day the teacher had to step out of the classroom for a few minutes. Sure enough, some kids started acting up. A girl and two others started playing with that door and sure enough that one girl put her hand in the space where it opened and another kid slammed the door and that girl screamed so loud as she ran to her desk with blood dripping! I was stunned and sat there not believing it. The teacher dashed in called 911 and the next time I saw the girl, she had a cast on her hand because the slammed door had broken her hand. I do know that girl was friends with one of my girl friends and I did see her later in life , and I wondered if her hand had healed right and I wondered if it caused her problems years later. But, I wasn't close enough to her and didn't feel like I should ask. I still have scary feelings when I think of it.

Moving and changing schools was always hard. Kids can be very cruel.

I remember falling down a very high stairs when I was in second grade, it was not my fault, I was not that weak nor clumsy but some smaller kid, probably first grade going down behind me slipped and fell on me so we both came tumbling down that staircase. Looking back now since It keeps coming back to me I'm glad I did not break my neck or sustained a serious fracture injury.

I also have a scary memory from first grade in elementary school. There was a nice blonde girl in my class, the youngest of all. During the Christmas holidays she went to a skiing station, her parents enjoyed skying. She was a cute little thing, she had to pee and hide behind a snow plow... that moved while she was there killing her. I will never forget her cute little face. I was traumatized for years.

Oh dear that would have been quite frightening for you yes Anne. Poor girl and I bet it did affect her later no too. Not in school exactly but in the elementary school years, I was assaulted in the school playground I was playing at on a weekend so..never forgot that.

Why didn't you feel you should ask? This is something I can't understand. You weren't involved in any way.

Accidents happen so quickly don't they? And such events can be quite traumatic for a small child.
