Saturday night dinner outing

We went to a Lebanese Eatery last night. It wasn't a restaurant. It turned out to be a grocery store with a little place inside where you can sit down and get some food to eat. Wasn't an ideal dining place but the food was delicious. I was really craving for dessert after but they didn't have anything, so we ended up going somewhere else for that. The total came out to around $21 and they didn't ask for tips. Maybe because it's not really a restaurant. I yelped places nearby and we found something that seemed to offer dessert. We got there just in time. They were closing soon after we got there. We ordered two cappuccinos and a slice of nutella cheesecake. The cheesecake slice was huge. Definitely not for one person and it was a bit too sweet but it was still tasty. With the tip the total came out to about $25. All in all it was a pretty delicious dinner! And it cost us under $50. For two people for a Saturday night dinner that's quite a bargain. And as a bonus I will get 106 SB (swagbucks) for my dessert bill because as it turned out that place participates in SB Local. Although the amount of SB you get back is calculated for the amount prior to the tip.

@lovebuglena I see. I'm sure not many members know this abbreviation.

Swag Bucks. These are the points we earn on Swagbucks that we can later redeem for gift cards or PayPal cash.

That sounds nice. I don't think that I have had the chance to eat Lebanese food, but I would like to try it. I love to visit places where you can buy food from other countries.

@lovebuglena I have eaten food from most of the other European countries, but I would love to try the food from Korea and the Philippines. There are many Chinese restaurants here, and it also possible to find food from Thailand, Vietnam and Japan, but some the other Asian countries aren't represented at all. I had Russian food in Copenhagen, but that restaurant doesn't exist anymore.

@Porcospino In the borough where I live I think there is only one Philippines restaurant.

Thanks. I did not expect to earn any SB last night. I was just lucky that the restaurant happened to be part of SB Local.

You did indeed get a great deal. I've never had nutella cheesecake. Some desserts can be very rich.

I wished this cheesecake was a bit less sweet.

Sounds interesting. Can't say I have ever had Lebanese food. But that being said can't say I have ever eaten dinner in a grocery store either.

This was my first time. I did have dinner in Eately recently, which is a big market that has places to eat there but those are restaurants, not just a few tables in a confined space.

I am curious. Is the Lebanese cuisine the same as any other Arab cuisines or it has a distinct taste to it that is only Lebanese?

Oh wow! That sounds like a wonderful evening out. I don't even know what Lebanese food would consist of. I need to learn now!

We had rice with vermicelli, pieces of chicken and meat (not sure if it was beef or lamb) and a kafta. Also baba ganoush, two potatoes samosas, meat/rice stuff grape leaves, tahini sauce, and pita bread.

Yeah I know. We ended up not finishing the cheesecake because it was too big, so we have some dessert left for tonight.

Yep. I love dinners like that. Where you end up getting some delicious (and even ethnic) food you haven't tried before and you don't spend a fortune.
