I'm sorry

Perhaps the California fire is on my mind this morning. Perhaps its that sadness that drove the misery that can be right around the corner into my mind first thing today. Morning commute: traffic super slowed up. Then better. An accident? I drove up a little further and saw a man darting into the two lane highway. He grabbed what I could tell was a good sized deer body and drug it onto the highway's shoulder. Then I saw that a truck sat parked on the shoulder ahead of where the man and his car was. I could see the heat rise from the deer in the frosty air. My community is growing. There's a mixture of lakes and sagebrush here. The deer are trying to survive. More apartment buildings are going up. More houses squished so close to each other, taking over what was corn fields. The deer have no where to go. No way to avoid crossing the highway to get to the cattails and the waterways. So they gamble. The deer gamble cause they must. And at times human and wildlife collide. I am sorry. Sad and sorry. The photo shows a little tin piece that came home with me when I visited a thrift store yesterday. Can you see the rainbow on the upper right corner?

I always feel bad when the wildlife has to pay the price. Even when we have to kill a raccoon for going after the chickens. They were here first.

@sallypup The worst is the skunks when they get in the trap. They dont bother anything so I would set them back free if I could only find a way not to get sprayed while doing it.

In certain parts of Germany there are bridges over motorways with a lot of traffic especially built for animals so that they can cross from the forests to the fields or wherever they want to go.

@LisaSteinmetz I think there finally is an animal bridge up on the mountain pass highway that crosses from East to West in my state.

@andriaperry Oh boy people drive fast here. I was doing 55-60- the speed limit- on the way home. A guy in a red pickup sped around me like I was doing twenty. Frosty out, too.

We have to drive very slow no matter the time of day. So many drive too fast then hit one and wreck into trees after. It saddens me.

That's so sad about the deer. It is sad for them that their habitat is being taken over by people. Nice tin. Yes, I saw the rainbow.

I can see the rainbow. People are very unintelligible during the ride. People drive very fast here and there are fatal accidents on a daily basis.
