Pirate Birthday Party

My youngest grandson had his third birthday party last weekend. He is the one whose parents had a pirate ship playset built in their backyard for him and his brother and sister.
For the three year-olds birthday, the theme was pirates, of course! Our daughter hired an actor who pretended to be Captain Jack Sparrow.
Captain Jack Sparrow played games with the kids at the birthday party, painted their faces and even had sword fights with them using foam rubber swords.
The actor who played Captain Jack Sparrow thought it was pretty cool that there was a pirate ship at their house. He said he had never done a birthday party with a pirate ship before!
The party was a big success. All the kids had a good time, although a couple of the younger ones were a little timid around Captain Jack Sparrow. Our daughter told me that the boys talked about the party constantly for the next few days, so they seemed to have a good time.
I'm glad it turned out so well, since I know our daughter put a lot of effort into it!

That is cool, sounds like the best birthday trip ever. Who does not like cool pirates?
Also how much influence do you have there in Orange County? Damn, I expected an upset or two but every election went to a Democrat. When its pretty much one of the most Republican counties in the state. Damn Miss Lady, you back what you say. Much respect.

@crossbones27 - Thank you for your kind words about the election. I supported my candidate, Katie Porter, with enthusiasm, but I also reTweeted posts and promoted the other Orange County candidates online. I was shocked, however, to see how thoroughly Orange County flipped to the Democrats. Although I would like to take credit, I think Trump had more of an effect than I did! LOL

@DianneN - Our daughter pointed out that the actor was less expensive than taking all the children to some special event place, and they had a good time. Plus, our daughter and her husband were able to enjoy socializing with the other parents. They didn't have to play games with the kids, etc. It made it easier for everyone.

@just4him - Yes, I agree. When you see your children every day, it is hard to notice the changes. When you see your grandchildren only a few times a month or, in some cases, a few times a year, you really notice the changes!

Sounds like he had a great birthday. Happy belated to him. What an interesting theme and I think the pirate ship is a great idea and am still thinking for my Sophie but it would have be very very small.

She would have fun exploring the different parts but it would have to be small because it would go on our porch and would be able to move it around too.

Yes, the children loved the party, although a few children were unsure for a while whether he was a "good pirate" or a "bad pirate!" LOL
