How's this for incompetence?

I am writing this while sitting at my place of work in the University Library where I do a four-hour shift once a week. Don't worry - when a student asks me for something I stop what I'm doing and attend to their needs! I finish work at 9 p.m., after which I go to the car park where my wife has left the car (she goes home on the bus on these occasions, having already done a day's work elsewhere in town). Armed with the spare key, I drive home. However, a small change tonight is that the car was being serviced in town, so there was a possibility that it would not be ready in time for my wife to take it back to the car park and catch the bus - on such occasions she has to collect me from the closest point to home that I can get a bus to at that time in the evening. Having said that, tonight's scenario is completely different! The car was serviced on time and my wife went to collect it as arranged. She was then told that the garage had dropped her key into someone's else's car, which had since been driven off when its owner collected it. Our car is therefore ready to be driven home, if only anyone had a key available with which to do so! The garage has therefore had to give my wife a courtesy car so that she can get home, and is going to provide a taxi so that I can get home when I finish here! And all because some clown can't tell one car from another!

That could be me. I'm not good at telling cars apart. But then I don't work in the car business.

Oh well, it's cost them a bit and presumably embarrassed them so maybe they'll earn from it.

I trust that missing the "l" off "learn" was not a Freudian slip?!

Well, a lot of cars look alike, but at a garage, you'd think they could tell the difference.

Oh dear, someone had too much on their mind. At least you were both provided with ways home.
