Weird Word Wednesday- Abibliophobia

Abibliophobia is a new word to me. It's a long one! I know a couple of people who love to read. They can devour a thick novel in no time. Then they want to read another! Not me. I love to read, but I prefer short stories or articles. My attention span is not very long. If I do choose a long book, it takes me weeks or months to get through it because I only take in short sections at a time. And I usually don't stick with it consistently. Since the internet became so popular, I doubt if many people will run out of things to read! What about you? Are you an avid reader? Have you ever heard this word before?

I didn't know the term but I know the affliction! In fact, I don't know the fear of . . but the reality. Once I went to Italy with my husband to visit his family. I'm a quick reader. I packed several thick books into my suitcase which would get me through the time we would be there. Unfortunately, I had made a bad choice. I didn't like two of the books. I just couldn't read them. When I had finished the others, I went to a book store which also stores English and German books. The selection was deplorable. I either had read the books already or knew at once that I didn't want to read them. My Italian is good enough for conversations but not good enough to read books. I read the local newspapers from beginning to end but that didn't fill my day. I was desperate. When I came home, I bought a kindle!

I'm an avid reader, but haven't fun across this word before. It's a condition I'll never have. I will never run out of things to read unless my two houses and a shed full of books all magically disappear or are destroyed.

I used to be an avide reader. But my real problem is my short attention span as well. It only lasts for three minutes, thats the longest.

Thanks @Janet357. I think that the fact that I use the internet/social media a lot contributes to my attention span problems.
