Does Anyone Else Have a Cat That Does This

Our cat, Echo, has a weird personality trait I have never come across in all the years we've had cats. Every night, around 2 a.m., he starts making as much noise as possible to wake us up and get one of us out of bed with him. At first, I thought he was just hungry. But, most of the time, he doesn't eat his food and, even when he does, he just starts in again. He doesn't want to play either. What he wants, apparently, is for one of us to get up with him and hold him. No joke. If we take him in on the couch and cradle him like a baby for 5-10 minutes, he settles right down and doesn't make a peep the rest of the night. And, no, bringing him in bed with us does not work. We actually have to get up with him to do that. It's not the first time I've had a cat with separation anxiety. But, this has to be the first time I've had a cat that has that problem when we are only a few feet away from him and just asleep.

@srhelmer so if the cat is fixed he can't feel urges anymore?

@Mavic123456 When cats are fixed they do not go through heat. Likely just wants some extra love and attention and to know he is not alone when they are asleep.

@srhelmer My cat doesn't do that but she cries out during the day at times to make sure I am here and when i call her she comes to me and then wanders off.

Oh lordy @srhelmer . And they say animals don't have any human factors (like a baby in the middle of the night). Four of my 12 just load up on the bed with me all night. Thank goodness for a Queen-sized bed.
