Day 3 John 1:35-51 John 1:35 Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples; 36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he said, Behold the Lamb of God! 37 And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus. 38 Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and said unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwell thou? 39 He said unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour. 40 One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. 41 He first found his own brother Simon, and said unto him, We have found the Messiah, which is, being interpreted, the Christ. 42 And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jonah: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone. 43 The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and found Philip, and said unto him, Follow me. 44 Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. 45 Philip found Nathanael, and said unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph. 46 And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip said unto him, Come and see. 47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and said of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile! 48 Nathanael said unto him, Whence know thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou was under the fig tree, I saw thee. 49 Nathanael answered and said unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel. 50 Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believe thou? Thou shalt see greater things than these. 51 And he said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man. The power of one when put into practice brings phenomenal results. Many organizations use the power of one to increase their membership. John the Baptist saw Jesus and proclaimed him as the Son of God. Two of his disciples saw him and followed Jesus. They each told one other person and soon five people followed Jesus. Andrew, John, Simon (Peter), Philip, and Nathanael. John never names himself in his gospel. He is one of two, the other disciple, the disciple that leaned on Jesus breast at the Last Supper, the disciple that Jesus loved, this disciple. John 21:24 This is the disciple which testifies of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true. John’s gospel also points to the deity of Jesus Christ as the Messiah, the Son of God. As Christians, you are encouraged to find one person and disciple him or her, and as they grow in faith, you encourage that person to find one, and your circle grows as more people are discipled one on one. When you find someone or something that excites you, you can’t wait to tell someone about your find, and soon, you have several people enjoying what you found. It’s the same with discipleship. Everyone, including the leader, finds one other person. Jesus found Philip and simply told him to follow him. Have you told one other person about Jesus Christ and what he did for you? Let’s pray: Father, help me tell one other person about you and your Son, and bring him or her into fellowship with your Son, Jesus as I disciple that person. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Very nice, Valerie. I currently have one disciple under my wing. He is a 14-year old high school boy. I am claiming more disciples under my care.

As a very shy person I found it difficult to talk about the Lord to others, after the twins and all they went through it because very easy to tell others all they had gone through and what he did for them, our family and all of us.
