Don't Tease The Alligators

There are times when I find myself on YouTube wondering, "How in the hell did I wind up here?" And then wondering, "What's wrong with people?"
Such was the case yesterday when I landed on what was to be a funny encounter between a little dog and an alligator while some people were vacationing in sunny Florida.
It was either an alligator or crocodile. I really struggle sometimes to know the difference.
Either way, the video starts with a little dog barking at, and cajoling an alligator. The people taking the video are laughing hysterically as the alligator scampers away in fear. Apparently the same thing happened another day, or maybe later that night since the lighting was different.
Again, the alligator is chased away into the water by the little dog and the people are hysterically laughing at this.
In the final shot the alligator turns, scoops the dog into its jaws and drags it into the water to its doom. The laughter turns to hysterical cries and screams.
Why people would let their beloved pet tangle with an alligator is beyond me. That they thought that the dog would be the victor in the end is also beyond me. And what's more, the fact that they were horrified by the outcome is also disturbing.
What did they THINK was going to happen?

They thought it was smart and cute to taunt the gator and act all horrified. People are to blame for the outcome.

That's sad all the way around...
An alligator is only going to take so much before it snaps.
The dog was just being a dog.
The people... They should have known better.

Teasing an alligator is not really a good joke.

No. They most certainly do not. The sad part is that the dog had no idea. But the humans who were supposed to have this dog in their care certainly did—or maybe they're just so stupid they did not know...either way, this could have easily been prevented.

Stupid is as stupid does. They should be arrested for animal abuse.

That was too risky and it proved to be so Poor dog. I can never watch anything where an animal suffers.

You can't do much about stupidity. Our friends' stupid friends put their budgeriar (love bird, parakeet) down near the friends' dog's nose to get acquainted and snap! it was gone. I mean - really. Unfortunatey (and very unkindly) said friends' friends have children. I wonder how clued up they will be.

This is a terrible thing and so sad, there is no way I would ever let my dog do something like that, stupid people. I mean what was going through there mind when this was happening.
