I thought they would have to drag me kicking and screaming into the 1980s. But then there was Billy Joel singing “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me” and I realized things were not so bad at all. Alright university was just about finished and I would have to go out into the job market but music was still music. As long as I could boogie and rock and roll life was worth living. “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me” was a big hit and on the album Glass Houses. The song rose up to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and stayed there for 11 weeks. It eventually got Platinum status. 1980 was an alright year with Queen still up on the charts, Blondie doing their music magic, for romance there was Air Supply, John Lennon and many other up there on the charts. The only thing that put a great big damper on this year was that at the end of it on December 8 we lost a great talent when John Lennon was senselessly shot and died. Do you remember this song?
