Preparing for Christmas program

"What's on your mind?" Well, we finished the middle school concert, we finished the high school concert, and now we have the elementary concert and musical to do on Dec. 14. I'm the only one in charge of this. So my mind is full of details like "How do I fix the habit some kids have of jumping around on stage when they're supposed to be standing still?" "Can my accompanist come to one more rehearsal?" "Why don't parents read emails regarding what their kids should wear for the play?" I went to bed at 9:00 last night and I'm still tired because my mind was running all night! What's on your mind?

I have the same thoughts and they run rampant day and night. I have a Christian school and a music academy. Many parents neglect to make sure kids prepare for programs and performances. Many kids jump around on stage because they are undisciplined. Somehow the idea that kids should never be squelched has pervaded the education system and the home.

No kidding. I spent a kindergarten and first grade rehearsal yesterday teaching kindergarteners to not jump suddenly and randomly while on the risers. One thing that has helped is I alternate kinders and first graders so each kinder has their own "big brother or sister" that helps them know how to stand and what to do. Makes the first graders feel super big!

I remember having some friends stay while they were competing in a tennis tournament. When the lady got up in the morning she looked terrible and said she'd been playing tennis all night! I hope your last event goes off well. It is a lot of responsibility for you.

I just got up. Last night I dreamed that Iwas three hours late to rehearsal because my alarm didn't go off!
