Day 10 John 4:44 John 4:44 For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honor in his own country. 45 Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast. 46 So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum. 47 When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death. 48 Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe. 49 The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die. 50 Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son lives. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way. 51 And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son lives. 52 Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him. 53 So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son lives: and himself believed, and his whole house. 54 This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judaea into Galilee. People hear about healing crusades and flock to them, hoping to see a miracle or be part of one, and if they see miracles, they believe in the person who performed the miracle, not the person behind the miracle. Jesus told the people they looked for signs and wonders before they believed what he did. They didn’t believe him until they had proof. The nobleman came to Jesus requesting he come with him and heal his son. However, Jesus didn’t go with him. The nobleman didn’t see the miracle, but he saw the proof of it when his servants told him his son lived and the time when he recovered. As Christians, you tend to look for signs that God will do what he said he would. You doubt and question, and when God answers your prayer, your doubt vanishes and you believe God will answer your prayer, until the next problem arises, and your doubt returns. You know God answered the first time, but would he the second time? God wants unwavering faith, not faith mingled with doubt, full of signs and wonders. Your faith grows when you believe and take the leap of faith without doubt. Then your faith as small as a mustard seed will grow. You need to cast doubt away. You need to stop believing in signs and wonders and believe that Jesus will heal, deliver, and save. James 1:6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavers is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7 For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord. 8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. Jesus looks for unwavering faith in those who profess to be his children. Jesus has a proven track record when it comes to keeping his promises and taking care of his people. It’s 100%. Stop looking for the one promise he won’t keep. It won’t happen. Signs and wonders are not of God, they are born from doubt and fear, and doubt and fear are from Satan. It’s time to cast off doubt and fear and stop looking for signs and wonders. It’s time to believe God will answer your prayer. He will heal you. He will deliver you. He will save your family and loved ones. He will. 1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he cares for you. Just as the nobleman believed Jesus when his servants told him his son lived without him going to his house to heal him, you can believe Jesus will do the same for you. The nobleman’s faith was the catalyst that saved his household when he believed in Jesus. Are you ready to believe? Let’s pray: Father, I know I have doubt and fear. I know I need to trust and believe without wavering. Help me cast aside my fears and trust you will heal, save, and deliver me and my family from Satan’s grip on our lives. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Copyright © 11 December 2018 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay
