Trump vows to shut down the government over his beloved wall

Trump met with Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer in the Oval Office today to discuss funding the government to avoid a shutdown later on this month. I believe December 21 is the date that it is set to run out of funding. The press was allowed in to televise it for 15 minutes because Mr. Celebrity Apprentice claimed he wanted "transparency". What he got was a spectacle and not in the way that he desired. Pelosi and Schumer out-maneuvered him big time. Pelosi branded the potential government closure the #TrumpShutdown. (it has been trending on Twitter all day) She told him that he wasn't going to get funding for the wall and it wasn't in the country's best interest to shut down the government. Then Schumer goaded him into saying that he would do it AND take the blame for it. Trump actually said that he wouldn't blame the Democrats for it--that it would be all on him. (Pence was also there doing his best Weekend at Bernie's imitation by just sitting there silently. . . sometimes actually with his eyes closed for periods of time.) Mr. Reality TV President WANTED this televised so, as a result, the whole country had the opportunity to see his promise that a shutdown would be all his fault either live or on a million video clips on the news, on Twitter, on YouTube, on the commercials that will inevitably be run, etc. Naturally, Republicans in the House and Senate were horrified by what he did. Democrats were thrilled. If Trump decides to throw his tantrum and force a government shutdown, it will inconvenience millions upon millions of Americans. Many federal workers won't go to work and won't get paid. In the end, though, he still isn't going to get the $5 billion that he wants to build his stupid wall. He will lose and the country will know that the whole pointless exercise was all his fault.

So tired of hearing about this loon that is President. Personally, I think someone should super glue him to the top of that wall and make him sit there for a few days to think it over.

I think anyone against that wall should move here for a decade or two so they can see what it's really like living so close to the Mexican border.

@NJChicaa That's what it feels like...but it will most likely come on an ordinary day with no warning due to something that we won't know about until all the resignation/arrest smoke clears. And that could be before the 21st.

thats b.s. federal workers will still get paid, backpay. they just wont go to work. the only ones that wont go to work are on the low end, like the souveneer shop workers, janitors, but they will still get paid. and besides most government workers get paid monthly or bi-weekly. at least trump is taking the hit for this one. he did though fact check pelosi on one thing, the votes needed in the senate. he does need 10 from dems, he doesnt want to use the nuclear option. the dems have been set up by trump, they will have majority of congress next year. the thing i got out of this televised event was that trump wanted america to see what was being said on air as opposed to behind closed doors and then both sides just releasing their version of what happened. very "transparent" from where i sit. and hes right about the purpose of the wall, i live within 22 miles from mexico. over the years ive seen a lot of wrong and the effects of illegal immigration.
