Being English, I speak English. After I moved to Italy over forty years ago, I learnt to speak Italian too. When I was at school I learnt french but have forgotten it as I never used it later. I guess the second language is now Spanish (after English) but Chinese and even Arab are being taught here now as they will become widespread with globalisation.

Around here it is probably Spanish. Maybe Asian next, and then whatever the Indians speak. But the only accepted language in the United States is English.

@japanesesamurai Spanish is not an official language in the U.S. By law it is English. But Spanish is definitely probably the second language here. Many things in the U.S. offer both English and Spanish.

I live in the United Kingdom in the part which is called England. I speak English as my native tongue. I think that is shocking that English people are not taught foreign languages to the same excellence as the Netherlands. There children age 10 to 11 can speak fluent English. Adults there know German as well and sometimes other languages. I got to learn French for 5 years when I was at secondary school. I went to an evening class to learn Spanish. I know basic German to help me on my travels.
