Do you feel excited every time your birthday will come near?

I have observed that people have different attitudes towards their birthdays. Some are so excited that they need to prepare in advance for the celebration. On the other hand, some just give a sigh thinking of another year that will be added to their age. Then there are some who just ignore their birthday by telling its just another ordinary day. How about you?

I ignore my birthday and I believe I have a very good reason not to celebrate it. My 13th birthday was the last day I saw my parents because three days after I received a call that they were abducted and then later on killed. So, do you think I should look forward to my birthday?

@maximax8 It wasn't scary. It was devastating to lose both of your parents at a very young age.

I belong to the second group. Maybe excitement are just for the younger ones and not to the people getting old.

Perhaps or maybe it depends on one's personality.

I live in England and my birthday is 4th July which is American Independence Day in the USA. I love the time of my birthday and these days it is even more special because in 2009 my daughter was born on 27th June. That day is exactly one week before my birthday. In 2010 we had a holiday to Canada for my daughter's birthday and my 38th birthday. On my 40th birthday I went to Bath Spa where I had time in clear and warm spa water. I loved the saunas with their sweet fragrances. On the roof top they had an open top pool. I had some cool raindrops which was unusual. My birthday as a child was a hot day with strawberries and raspberries. These are delicious summer fruits. I wish I could have my birthday in America.

@annierose Thankyou I certainly am. Last year I wished to pay off my mortgage before my birthday. I was able to do that and as a result my birthday felt extra special.

I'm one of those that sigh but it's okay. We've both got past the stage of getting too excited about it.

@playertwo It is good to hear that! People should be wiser as they aged. That is the sign that they are evolving.

I don't ignore my birthday but I also don't celebrate it with big parties, just a cake to remember.

Big parties sound like for kids only. I also prefer just a simple celebration of my birthday with my loved ones.

Mine come and go with no celebrations anymore and quite honestly I hope that friends forget. The numbers are getting so much bigger every time, though I guess I am lucky about that.

I always would feel excited for my birthday, no matter if I will be another year older. It is something to be so thankful of, because other didn't have the chance to live until my age now.

@annierose So, even if we keep getting old we should celebrate it, because we will be able to experience all the phases of life unlike the others.

Not every time, because I don't really know what's coming. But I try to be cheerful on that day so people won't think that I'm such an ungrateful witch. ;o)

My birthday falls in time of heavy rains and typhoons but there are times it shines but rains in the afternoon, so I just don't mind it...I just celebrate it simply thanking the Lord and having a good time with family around me..

I do not like my birthday, I do not like holidays, because those dates remind me that I am alone and make me sad, so it's easier for me not to think about it.
