How to startup a blog

I know this sounds redundant but need to know how is the best way to get a free site/hosting to get myself up there until I can put money into it? I know of a site called Angry Hosting only cost $1 for hosting. Most of it is HTML. Any ideas? I don't know if it would be worth buying a domain name for blogger spot.

I use webs.com to create my website. It is free to use. You pay nothing to have the site up and running. And you don't need to know HTML to create the site as that's not required. The only thing is that your site will have a webs.com in the url. Maybe they allow to use a custom domain name there but I have not inquired about that.

you know if you can monetize it and I assume it won't have problems with backlinks?
