Christmas Rush

Last night, I had a hard time taking a public transportation going home. It was because too many people were out, most of them buying something for themselves or for their loved ones for Christmas. Maybe many employees got their bonuses, so they flock to malls and small stores or restaurants to celebrate their yearend extra salary, the so-called 13th month pay. Is Christmas bonus also given to employees in your country? What perks do employees get from their employers in your place?

The closer it gets to Christmas. The busier it gets. Here, certain people get a bonus and others do not. I was a teacher and received gifts from my students and their parents, and some faculty friends. My son is an attorney and gets huge bonuses from his firm every year.

So nice to receive gifts from your students and their parents; they really appreciated you teaching them. Your son is also lucky to receive such huge bonuses from his firm.

@acelawrites Thanks. My son is lucky, but he has lots of expenses, so it comes in handy.

I don't think I ever got a bonus. I worked with a small group and we would exchange presents and usually go out for lunch. It was always a nice day.

Our 13th month is almost gone as of now. With all the gifts we have to buy for the exchange gifts in those Christmas parties and then the godchildren, i think the 13th month won't actually suffice. Good thing we have the bonus. It is said that it will be given on Friday.

I was driving to a 6PM meeting last Friday and I was very annoyed because almost half of the width of the road was occupied by motorcycles that the space left was just about enough for a single vehicle to pass through. Those parking boys must be having a heyday collecting tips from the motorcycle owners and the traffic enforcers could nowhere be found. I hope they were not keeping a blind eye and getting a share of the parking boys' income.

Maybe because this is the merriest time of the year here, the 13th month and 14th month, plus bonus and gifts are given to the employees. Its the Christmas party celebration of schools here nowso just imagine more than 20 million students need to buy gifts for exchange gifts and gifts to teachers and fellow students. Plus the foods they need to buy and prepare. Oh that is a monster traffic on roads, malls, divisoria and parking areas.

That's the thing that I do not like during Christmas season; the monstrous traffic when you can not go where you want to go faster. But just the same, Filipinos still enjoy Christmas!
