Bake Some Gingerbread Cake

Nothing says Christmas like Gingerbread. I love the cookies and breads but I really love the little mix you find in the grocery store. It is about $3.00 and makes one tall layer. But all you add is water and one egg. I top it with whipped cream and serve warm. You can dress it up by adding: 1. a half cup of Flaked Coconut 2. a half cup of floured rasins 3. Melt chocolate chips on top after baking 4. After completely cooled put a doily over it and sift powdered sugar on it. Any other things you might do?

Gingerbread wise, I like cookies. I have also made a low carb gingerbread cake which was pretty good

Sounds good with stuff added to it, I'm not big into ginger bread tho.

The cake has a much lighter flavor than a cookie. I love the coconut added to it the best with a drizzle of chocolate!

I made gingerbread cookies once, both my husband and I did not like a lot. We prefer sugar cookies.

@Jeanniemaries I am sure that the cake is better. Today I am going to bake a Christmas stollen, is a German sweet bread.

@LadyDuck I have a friend that grew up in Germany. Years ago in the 70's I baked a Christmas stollen for her. It was hard as a rock, it didn't rise. it was edible but barely if you sliced it very very thin. She lauighed until she cried when she saw my poor stollen. We both laughed, it was a fun tea party but I did have to bring out other refreshments! We were fairly new friends then but we were best friends and got together every day while I lived there. She lost her son this year and it's a sad Christmas for her. I should go and visit and take her a stollen.

The cake has a much lighter gingerbread flavor. I didn't care much for gingerbread until I tried the cake. Now I love it all,

Gingerbread anything is not our favorite. I’d have to dress it up a lot!

We've never made gingerbread. Maybe it's time we did.
