KIDS not allowed?

There is a new law in my country where kids are no longer allowed to go house to house to sing Christmas carols. I think this law is nice because there is danger when kids cross the streets to go from one house to another where there are some speeding vehicles along the road. Besides, some kids use the money they get from carolling and are only spent in computer shops to play online games. Others though buy food for their families. Safety and protection of the kids is always the primary concern of older people, that is why, if children are allowed to carol, maybe their ages should be 12 years old and above rather than 6 years old and below. What do you think, fellow mylotters? Should kids be allowed to do caroling at night?

I have to agree. Little kids should not be out alone for many reasons.

@ridingbet Oh, wow! The parents are fools for letting their kids be out so late and by busy streets.

@DianneN yes, and maybe they just want to see how much did their kids collect from their caroling.

sadly, there are many kids in the streets at night, not only caroling but also playing around, and they may be . it by speeding vehicles. and when they get sideswiped and brought to the hospital, their parents demand the motorists to pay for all damages done. i think the parents are partly to be blamed when their kids meet accidents on the road.

In our place, the carol team belongs to the church so the money definitely goes to the church. The people participating including children (those who are good in singing) are doing the job for the Church.

i think that idea would be great. when i was a staff nurse, the hospital personnel (where i was employed at) had a group of workers who caroled at night. they are already young adults so no problem with that. if kids carol their collected money MIGHT be used for their vices, without their parents' knowledge. some adult carolers though sing for us but they want money not lower that P20 bill, which they say is for their church construction.

@ridingbet Deifnitely it will be great if the money collected through carol goes to the noble purpose for a society rather than using for personal purposes.

In children's carol singing responsible adults should be present because they will help with road crossing and take care of the money raised. It is awful that some car drivers don't drive slowly in areas with housing. Families need to budget carefully. Dave Ramsey says food, light and water and the first things we should pay for. We should make sure we can afford rent or mortgage money. It is strange singing carols has been stopped by this new law in the Philippines. Many children will be disappointed.

yes that is true that kids cannot carol. but maybe if an adult is with them, i think they are allowed. singing carolson Christmas is a childhood activity that kids want to experience.

it's probably a good idea.you never know what wackos are out there. i think that's one reason we don't see scouts out selling cookies anymore.

No kids should not be allowed for many reason, one is the one you mentioned, danger to cross the street, another is that you never know who opens the door, you can step on a drunkard who tries to hurt kids.

@ridingbet Kids must stay at home with their parents, it's the only place where they are (usually) safe.

I think it is a brilliant idea. There are many syndicates roaming around the streets, especially during night time. So yeah, it is better for the kids.

i agree, but some parents, according to what i hear and read from the news, force their kids to go caroling, or they turn a deaf ear when their kids are taken by the police for the petty crimes these kids commit.

I also read that in the news hmmmm. I think it's sad that they are not allowed but if it's for their safety, since there are more crimes now, then it is good...

i agree. also, kids should not be out of their houses at 10PM; some here play in computer games, even reaching midnight, and that is bad.

there are many news on Facebook about random kids being snatched by adults and that is something that should be worried about, and the police authorities should also look into.
