December harvest time chez Horse

This is a picture I took today of my Winter balcony snow peas. As you can see, there are four or five snow peas ready to be harvested, and several blossoms that will soon be snow peas. I planted some snow peas at the preschool with the kids this week. Hopefully they will flourish as well. I have one "start" from my balcony that is doing well there. What are you planting/harvesting these days? Up here in the Northern Hemisphere, many of us are shutting it down for Winter. But I live in Coastal California, where a few things still grow in Winter.

I have 2 cabbage planted, I have kale, curly mustard, collards. The turnip greens are about over but they left nice turnips about golf ball size up. I could have several other winter crops planted but Taking care of Tony takes most of my extra time right now.

@andriaperry I don't have many recipes that call for cabbage. Let me think...

WHOA! I almost fell, pony! Are you trying to see who will fall onto your balcony? I'm not planting anything right now. It wouldn't live here if I did. I have been having fun with my phone's video camera, though!

@TheHorse Uhhh... yes, if you buy one called a "smartphone" it will have a video camera as well as a regular camera and quite a few other interesting things on it. Yes! It made me dizzy and I'm lying in my bed!

Phones have video cameras? Who'd a thunk it. That photo can induce a bit of vertigo, can't it?

Nothing in growing here in NJ. I won't be able to plant anything again until April and then it will be lettuce, snow peas, and some herbs.

Do you do green beans as well? They like warmer temperatures than snow peas.

@NJChicaa I've done squash with some success. Have you tried corn? It's satisfying because it gets so tall. Yo have to hose off the ants before you eat it. They like it too.

There is snow here and my garden is now sleeping. I would like my roses to flourish and when it's winter.

Nothing..:( In our world a lot of things grow throughout the year. :) Pity your government removes those medicare and medicaid things, within a short span, otherwise, you can be safe and happy at this end of the world.

@TheHorse Actually, you all are entitled to those medicare and medicaid within your country and within some radius from your country. Beyond that, if you stay more than specified number of days, all those facilities will lapse, and you would have to meet them from your pocket. Facilities in our world are not too good either.
