Who's Best Bonus By Popular Demand: Eminence Front

Today I finished up my countdown of favorite songs by The Who. Tomorrow I'll start a battle of two Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members that'll make your head spin. However, due to popular demand, and the fact that this song was left off the top ten list because it lost a coin toss, I present a bonus Who song. Bonus: Eminence Front I mentioned very early in the countdown that Roger was originally pegged to be the lead guitarist in The Who. Well, here he is playing lead! And Pete does the lead singing. In the 70s the "lifestyles of the rich and famous" became so domineering that it was about all you could read about. In the 80s they even made a TV show about it. The outrageousness of riches in the 70s was everywhere: private planes, bands renting out entire hotels for parties, Elton John's eyeglasses collection (and his shoes), every rock star having a house in "the hills" (Hollywood) and in Maui or Aspen, cars out the wazoo.....you name it. Add cocaine (the drug of the rich and famous) to the mix, and it's a toxic mixture. And people forget they're hiding. What a great song. Eminence Front Written by Pete Townshend From It's Hard, 1982 Their hair thins:
A classic song from album "It's Hard" of legendary band the Who.

@myklj999 — that’s true of a ton of Who songs.

@myklj999 — y’know, I said more than once that I think Townshend is an underrated songwriter. I know Entwistle was well-loved (and remains so), but he was incredibly underrated as a bassist.

Just love the pounding beat from the intro and throughout the song. And the unique keyboard sound Townshend creates for this tune. Just rocks! Best song from an otherwise average album post-Keith Moon.

I didn’t think It’s Hard was nearly as good as Face Dances, but maybe they felt they had to prove it wasn’t over with Face Dances.

@FourWalls I can understand that. Roger was really disappointed with It's Hard saying the only song worth releasing from that LP was "Eminence Front."
