I survived it all

The impromptu Christmas party was a roller coaster ride of sorts for me.. I had to cook and clean and fetch and fend for hours on end.. but I am so happy for a so many things at end of it. The party went off really well. The kids were so sweet and enjoyed everything that was put on the table. My Oreo icecream made from scratch was a major hit with the young people. The Azerbaijani style Pilaf too was a gustily eaten.. The butter chicken and grilled fish was well appreciated.. But my back seems to have taken a major hit and so are my heels.. I am so doggone tired that I think I will hit the sack a few hours earlier than usual.. Now I have my legs steeped in hot water with a cup of Epsom salt in it to help me feel better.. Carrot cake anyone? There a a big piece left over.. and I am not cooking tomorrow. The boys helped me clean house and helped me in the prep work. My older one helped serve and remove the dishes at each course.. They have promised to wash the dishes too tomorrow.. I loved the way the boys helped. The young people who came (all between the age group 16- 18) were really sweet and considerate. They were very appreciative and though shy at first showered me with hugs and kisses.. A fun day in all respects.. The best thing of all was my little boy (17 yers LOL) gave me a huge hug and kiss and a very gushing thank you mom after his friends left for the day. This really made my day!
