In The Middle

Granted, the bread that makes a sandwich plays an important part. Having said that it's what goes in the middle that make sandwiches exciting and delicious . A huge bunch of fresh lettuce that I picked from my brother's garden yesterday, decided my breakfast today. I heated some olive oil in a skillet and browned slices of brown bread. Put grated cheese and sliced tomatoes . Then put in a generous amount of the shredded lettuce. Topped it off with freshlyground pepper . A small satchet some chilly flakes from a pizza order was lying around ,so sprinkled some of that too.And there was my breakfast all ready together with a cup of green tea This is what makes a sandwich fun for me. I just scrounge around and put in whatever strikes my fancy. What do you like putting in the middle of your sandwich.? Image is free picture from pixabay.

I do not make sandwiches often, but usually I like tomatoes and tuna and a bit of mayo, or cheese lettuce and ham.

@responsiveme I make sandwiches when we have a meeting around noon and it's better than to prepare a full meal. I still have some stressful things to do, I cannot come out with a discussion.

A good cook doesn't make sandwiches often ,I guess. Sandwiches are more of a quick thing to do..And for picnics maybe. I wish you would put up a good post soon

I like cheese and I also sometimes have Vegemite. That's a national favourite for Australians.

So this sounds a bit like a blt but with cheese and spice? I was trying to figure out what it looked like from the picture, but I should know that not everyone takes a picture of what they're eating like me. I've added weird things when using avocado's before, but otherwise I may not like my concoctions, so I don't do that very often. Here people will eat tuna melts where they grill their bread with some tuna and cheese on it similar to a grilled cheese but with the added tuna and that's fairly good. I tried a variation last week and it was awful. I used come chicken salad he brought home from the store with the cheese and grilled it. There was too much mayo in the salad and because of that, I think, it wasn't very good. I was looking for a post of yours that didn't have many responses, but I don't think you have many of those. So... here in a little bit, I will add the rest of my story told to me by my friend here.

@responsiveme Nah, you won't make anything with a message. This way is fine. So, my friend has been... Well let me tell you a little of her story first. About nine or so years ago she began an online relationship with a guy down south somewhere, Georgia or something. She knew she no longer loved her husband and wanted to find love, maybe. Anyway, she eventually moved out of the house they had shared and found a job. Later, she asked to also work for us and we became good friends. Her kids and my kids had been friends all through school, but we'd never really met until they graduated high school. I thought she's work with us for a few months, but she stayed for about four years. Her youngest child began having kids right out of high school and as they got older that daughter began working outside the home and needed help babysitting, so my friend and her ex began to watch the kids. Her ex bought a new house so that family with the grands could have theirs and actually, I think it was before that happened he let my friend move back into the basement to live for free so she could watch the grands when he was working. Once he bought the new house, he gave her a bedroom upstairs. A few years later he remarried her knowing she may not fullfill what he was hoping for out of it. Before all of this, she realized the guy down south wouldn't pan out to anything and agreed to remarry her ex mostly for the neighbors, I think. He recently retired, just after Christmas and is home a lot now and beginning to go through his things. She's been wanting to eliminate things in the house that aren't needed and he told her that he considers the stuff in the basement and the garage to be his. She thought he was saying that nothing in the house was hers so 'hands off'. (Most of their things came from their other house which she helped pick out). She also tended to say she just wanted to get rid of everything and that may be why he said what he did about it all being his. part two shortly.

I enjoy a good sandwich and yours sounded very tasty. I usually enjoy cheese, lettuce and tomato in the middle of my sandwich bread. It can really spice up an otherwise normal sandwich for me. Add a little salad dressing and there you go...yummy!

That sounds like mine. The centre... as in central thought and literally , was the lettuce I hand picked and wanted to eat fresh.

@responsiveme You are right. The bread may be the start of the sandwich but what you put in the middle is very important. I like to make salami sandwiches and put tomato, humous and mustard on it.

I am a simple man but a complete carnivore in my omnivorous life (if I can even say that with it making any sense at all). So lots of meat, and a little bit of lettuce, tomato, onion, and a slice or two of cheese. A perfect sandwich.
