A Housekeeper: "Do you feel SORRY for her?"

This afternoon, I have to do an errand and that is to buy formula milk powder for my baby nephew. My sister's breastmilk is not enough for him. A healthy baby boy sucks the milk out of her. While walking in the town proper, a woman was trying to catch my attention. As I looked at her, I recognized that it was my batchmate way back in university. We had a quick talk and asked her where she has been, etc? To cut is short, she claimed to be working in the local hospital as a 'housekeeper.' Don't get me wrong about this occupation and I am not belittling her, too. I was just felt sorry for her since she didn't finish our chosen field in our university, which is a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. During the school days, she and her group of friends were not into schooling. If she could only study and focus well, then she wouldn't be in such a situation. Perhaps she will be working in the hospital as a Registered Physical Therapy. Regardless, we just hug and go on to our respective ways for the day. "Did you stop schooling because of peer pressure?" "Did you study well during your school days?" Image Credit: media.giphy.com

Sometimes you cannot do what you wish. I was forced to leave School when I was in the final year and it was the most important year of all to be able to go and study anything else. When you were forced into something then it was very hard to get out of it. I protested and cried all I wanted and it got me nowhere at all. My youngest opted out of any kind of Studies it was his choice but he is happy with that. Perhaps she had some kind of problem, worry or doubt about whether she was doing the right thing. We are all free now to take our own paths but when I was that age you indeed were not.

@Shavkat A lot of us girls then were forced to leave and get an ordinary job and so I was not the only one either and they were very harsh in their treatment towards us like it was all our fault that we were the ones backing out you know when it was not that at all. I was going good for my C.S.E.´S and G.C.S.E exams which I could not get to in the end. Of course I understood that they needed me to put money in the house as well.

@lovinangelsinstead21 I do understand how you feel. During the old days. either man or woman, he or she needs to sacrifice to help the family. That's what my old man experienced before.

I can feel your sentiments about it, my friend. I guess I am lucky that my biological parents tried their best for us to have the so-called education.

You can also include the innate skills. I do agree that having a university's diploma is not enough. We need to enhance it.

@yoalldudes I think we can still learn and enhance to boost up our intelligence. Unless, if the person refused the changes in their lives.

@Shavkat Not everyone is cut out for more schooling. Maybe she wanted to take break and earn some money or maybe she cannot afford more schooling so has to work to make the money. Did she say why she is a housekeeper or if she does not mind it?

She said it. In fact, she has her own family now. During our university days, it is impossible for us to have part-time jobs.

Yes I did keep my focus during my schooling years and not only completed my school, but also my Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering. Yes, I agree - sometimes it's not easy to keep your focus in school.

Peer pressure really affects a youth's decision in life. At least your friend knew what mistake she made.

I can see in her eyes that there is regret. However, she became responsible for her own family now.
