Ever Join a Book Club?

I have a friend who said he was in a book club and that he was the only guy in the club. I think how it works is they vote on a book and everybody reads it. Then they meet together and discuss.
I think the cool thing now is that with the Internet people in completely different locations and parts of the world can be in a club, and still get together online and talk about the book.
Ever join a book club?
I have never joined a book club. I did join a music club so I could buy music at discounted prices. But never a book club.

I've never joined a book club either and I wouldn't want to. I was part of a CD club to buy music, but that didn't last too long. Technically it was a gift from my grandmother back when I was a teenager.
Anyway, the book club idea seems grand but I would feel pressured into finishing the book in a given amount of time and what if I just didn't like it? There might be several books that I just didn't like, ya know?
Oh well.I will sometimes discuss books I've read here and I try to get others to discuss books they've read here as well.

@cmoneyspinner I have been a member of both a book club and a music club. The book club started to annoy me when they began to send unsolicited books to my home; not just one or two but several every week! I soon left that club. The music club was more successful. I only got what I requested and otherwise they didn't bother me at all.
