I stole seashells by her lake shore

United States

We were lost, kept going in circles. It wasn't until the third or fourth pass by that we actually stopped. The woman lived on a private property just big enough for a driveway and her home. The lake was her backyard. She did have a side yard full of sand and seashells that were painted. I found that the most intriguing of all. These weren't ordinary seashells but ones that she had procured from a beach somewhere and then painted. There were delightful works of art painted on some, and a few that merely had cartoon characters on them. I did find one or two plain seashells. I stole a few while my family was busy asking for directions. I figured I would place them in a shadowbox and affix them on my wall. I had some fairy lights, small clothes pins and plenty of twine. I planned to wrap some in twine and hang them from the fairy lights. She did catch me picking up one, and I quickly tossed it down. She had no idea that I had plenty more in the pocket of my hoodie. You won't tell her, will you?

Yes, I was in dreamland. You can imagine my disappointment upon waking. Those shells were quite beautiful and I had absconded with quite the selection. Absconded, heh,.

@Courage7 We used to have quite a collection of shells here. I am not sure what I did with them. I know it was most certainly me, and I probably got rid of them after getting tired of then. I was always like that in my younger years. Latching onto something and then abandoning it. Who am I kidding.. I am not much different now.

It was just a dream at any rate, so there's no woman to tell. Though I kind of wish I had those seashells.

@responsiveme I am sure I will. I did grab two off of the beach a few weeks ago. I live four hours away from the beach.

In our country the "lake shore" cannot be private, so everybody can grab anything there.

This was a dream. Here, there are people who live around lakes. I think some of their properties can be private, and there are such things as private slices of beach.

@ScribbledAdNauseum There are plenty of people who live around the lake, the first 3 feet cannot be "private". Everyone having a problem, can stop there with the boat and get out. It is the same for the property on the sea shore in European countries.

@LadyDuck That makes sense. I don't really know all the details of the laws and regulations along the beach and beach properties here.

She only exists in my mind. It was just a dream. If she were real, however, I'd be asking if I could buy a few from her.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Well, I caught that part of it. But yes...of COURSE in real life you'd not be so inclined to simply abscond with her shells.
