What are you doing with unusable or unwanted Christmas gifts?

We didn't get anything unwanted and so can use the gifts. All the cake is eaten. Did you end up with a surplus of gifts this season? What do you plan to do with them?

@pitstop none of us have enough money to waste we all enjoy each others company instead.

I don't get many gifts that I can't use, but if it happened I would probably donate the gift to charity. Re-gifting is also an option, but we have to be careful if we do that. My friend once received a book. On the first page someone had written "Happy birthday, Mette" But my friend's name is Nina and the book was a Christmas gift

@pitstop My friend laughed when she told me the story. At least she learned which mistakes to avoid if she ever re-gifts anything

Regifting seems a popular option.

I do not want to refer to them as unusable or unwanted gifts because time will come when we can make use of then. I actually have received Christmas presents which I may never need at present but I still want to keep them. Some of them I give away to others who have more use of them and want them.

Have you ever gotten a gift that you found useful after a few years.

@pitstop yes actually plenty of them, I just keep them mostly wallets which are similar to what I have, and others are imitation LV wallets which I do not really use because it eats up space in my bag.

I will see if there are people around me who will need it. In some cases, I will just donate this to the charity

I did get a couple of things that I just really don't need. I'll hang on to them for a while, then?

We didn't get anything that we couldn't use or didn't want to keep. Mostly I'd keep unwanted gifts for maybe a year or two then perhaps donate them but well away from where they came from.

I know people who keep them until next Christmas and then give them to someone else

That's practical - as long as you don't end up giving it to the same person!!
