I had an interview with a lady and I'm actually wondering if I should laugh or cry at how society is. This lady walks into the interview and think we will cater to her because she has kids. Sorry, that's your problem and choice no employer needs to hand you specific hours and days I'd never dream of walking in and demanding specific days. Needless to say she wasn't hired

One lady asked for more because she drove over a certain amount. Funny because she lives 10 minutes from me so manager asked me to average out my gas to show her it was lies lol

There is nothing wrong with wanting to work only on specific days but then you should only apply for jobs that offer those days, not just apply to any job and then demand those specific days only.

The job stated Thurs TO Sun). This what gets me. But again if you want specific dates don't get moody when places decline you. Most with kids will be unreliable and we need reliable. I called lady references she s constantly late, calls in sick, and once brought her kid to work.

@ricki_911 Why do you say that most with kids will be unreliable?

It's hard to work and juggle kids but she should have her daycare set up before she interviews for a job.

If she stated I can only do days or afternoons. But it was specific days between x time and x time, No evenings, No weekends. I'm like lady you haven't worked in 6 years good luck looking for that

I was a single mom and raised 3 kids while working 3 jobs to support them, your right, even if you have kids you do what you have to do to support them and that includes setting up daycare or someone to watch them while you work.

Yes, I get last minute sickness or what not. But this is first job interview and they expect it on a silver platter I never go in and demand on a job application or interview. What do they give me/offer?. If they can't follow instructions that state thurs to Sun then they won't during the job.

@ricki_911 Exactly, if it was listed that the job would be a Thurs - Sun then what makes them think they can change the days?? Some people

lol , people nowadays dont know how exactly the employee and employer relationship dynamic works . if thats her concern, she needs to go apply where theyll give her that option. other than than, she better grow up quick.

You are absolutely right!! I was talking to a friend about this. People truely don't know but then they never move in a company or get appreciated.

Not in today work world lol unless you work at Tim Hortons. Companies don't work in favour of you. You work in favour for them. I was shocked demanding that lol. I'd never dream of it.

@hillhjill Yes, that's different. I was hired here and had weekends off. I do work weekends now to help them out but will get first slot off as I take shifts when needed etc. During summer months I say Sunday off so when I'm petsitting I can be here to feed at specific times / walk them. But these ones think walking into a job and being handled everything on a silver platter sorry sweetie I have top pick and I pick not to hire you lol. It's if they offer something else ie I can work Friday but can WORK Sundays

@ricki_911 I also think it all depends on how long you have been at a with place, I worked somewhere for years and got every weekend off because I would work Friday nights.

If she wanted a job, she would take the hours given. Then after she has experience, she can perhaps try to work with the manager to accommodate her hours. But going in and specific hours - nope, not a chance.
