It was still alive

After waking up from my nap this afternoon. My husband told me that the kids had found a small mouse dead in the mouse trap under the sink. Well let me tell you, last week I found one of my rolls of paper towels scratched up. I wasn’t sure if that was from the mouse form a few months ago that we caught or not. So I asked my husband to just set one under the sink because the kids typically don’t go in there. I’ve checked almost every day and was going to snap the trap and put it back but I was too tired the last few days to do so. What happens yep we got one. At cold and wet so little friends from the woods happen form time to time. I went to go get the mouse and bring to to the woods so some animal will get a free meal. My husband get so it because he has one working good hand right now. So I got the gloves we use to throw away. But the little guy was still breathing. At first I thought it was my eye. But nope still breathing. I told my husband he came in to look and said yep. He told me just take him out and open the trap and if he makes it he makes if not he’ll be eaten. So I tried to let him it but he kept kicking and make it very difficult to open up and then he started squeaking and they didn’t help with me trying to open the trap. So in the end I end up just leaving both in the woodline. Honestly is don’t think it would live too much longer.

That would have been devastating for me. It would have really upset me even if it was a nasty mouse. lol

Just a little field mouse they typically get eaten before they make into the house. I prefer them to stay outside where they belong.

@ShyBear88 Oh for sure. This time of year they tend to want to come inside

The mice do get exhausted after struggling in the trap for a long time. They probably die after that even when let away. It's better they not die inside the home as the smell is horrible.

@ShyBear88 sometimes they go to a nook and die away from your sight. That's when the smell starts.
