Diary Wednesday 9th January 2019 My first visit to the university this month and for once, not for voluntary work but for a book club group meeting. We discussed our reactions to Jenny Erpenbeck’s Go Went Gone, which I’ll review in a forthcoming post on here soon. The meeting was very relaxed and friendly and everyone had interesting thoughts on the book. This is the first decent book club I have been involved in, and run well they are well worth getting involved with. Diary Thursday 10th To 11th January 2019 I found out that my first pub signs book is on good course for its April launch. I have seen the front cover art which looks great and the final drafts should be with me in the next few weeks in PDF format. I went to the job club to job search there and edited some of my photo files too. In the evening I went to the local film making group meeting but no one else turned up. I called in a couple of pubs on the way home. I fear the group may not survive much longer which will be very sad. Diary Friday 11th January 2019 A news reporter, Diane Oxberry died today. This was quite sad news as she interviewed me on my science fiction hobby a few years back and she was very nice to talk to. I spent the day online catching up on my writings and more job searching. My basic cooking skills book, by Delia Smith arrived today. Arthur Chappell

I am sorry about Diane Oxberry, she was only 51, too young to die. Good luck with your cooking book.

@arthurchappell That's the start of being one. Goodluck! I'm just a fan of frying things like eggs.

Sorry about the reporter and the film making group but congratulations on the pub sign book going well. Have you picked a recipe from the new book for your first attempt?

@xander6464 yes, that is why I hate a lot of cooking shows - they assume we all have the ingredients in the cupboard already - the lobster thermadore shelf is bare here

@arthurchappell That is one of the bigger drawbacks of cooking, always having to have the ingredients on hand.

Good luck with cooking. And very sensible to start with basic recipes.

@responsiveme I'll get some tips and easy recipes from the cook book - the book club is run by the university here so it is well organized
