Why I like my doctor....

As most of you know I haven't been well. I am doing a lot better tonight but still not 100% yet. Only symptoms now are some coughing, ears still a bit full but better and voice still bit screechy but I can at least talk now. I couldn't talk before. My friend took me to the doctor I like on Thursday. I prefer to see her than any other doctor. When I first got sick I went to the doctors around the corner from me because it was more convenient. All he did was check my throat, told me I had a bacterial infection and said I didn't need any tablets. Few days later I was worse, I was almost deaf, had no voice and felt so awful. Went back to the doctors around the corner from me. This one looked at my throat, one ear and checked me out with her stethoscope. Told me I needed antibiotics. Which was weird because first doctor told me I needed nothing. And now the reasons why I like my doctor. I saw her, she listened to my story. She checked my temperature, looked down my throat as well as feeling around my throat, looked in both ears, checked me with stethoscope, showed me a picture of what was going on with my ears and explained why I am feeling deaf, swabbed my nose and my throat to send to the lab to make sure this isn't anything too serious. And she chatted with me to see how I was doing otherwise. I admire doctors. I do. But the ones around the corner from me, I swear they do not do thorough checks and have misdiagnosed me on multiple occasions. They are also half the reason why my gallbladder was not taken seriously. They would only give me some information about my tests in the past instead of all of it and would test me out the slowest ways possible. One test at a time. And sometimes no tests with advice like "Do this for 2 weeks then come back to me." Which made it a long process on figuring out what was going on and how to fix it. They don't sound sympathetic or give the feeling they even want you there. But the doctor I see is just so sympathetic and compassionate. Gives great advice and does multiple tests in one go because she is determined to find out what's wrong and get the ball rolling on trying to fix it. She is amazing. Have you ever had negative experiences with a doctor? Or positive?

I'm glad you found a good doctor. I don't like my doctor because he doesn't listen, though, in the past couple of visits, he's started to, which gives me a little hope.

@just4him I'm sorry that your doctor doesn't listen. I hope he has improved and will improve all that as time goes on. Have you considered seeing another doctor?

@VivaLaDani13 I have, but from what I've learned from the various people I've talked to, they're pretty much the same.

@just4him That's not really good at all. It's just a shame because doctors are meant to be helpful and take the time to listen but to know how many doctors are out there that are nothing like that is just disappointing.

I never had negative experiences with doctors. My actual doctor is a woman, a very nice woman who spends the necessary time to listen to your problems.

@LadyDuck I'm really glad your doctor is a good one! That's how doctors should be. Caring and taking the time to listen.

@VivaLaDani13 My brother is a doctor, but I would never want him as my doctor. He is selfish and does not care to listen.

@LadyDuck I'm sorry to know that. Not only that, some subjects may be a little awkward to discuss with a family member. Or maybe that's just me. I'm pretty open but some issues I prefer to keep to myself.

@VivaLaDani13 Dani, I understand how you feel about your own doctor. I feel that the same way about my own.

@Hannihar That is good because it's such a bad thing to have a doctor who doesn't help out. I really like my doctor. I saw her yesterday and have to see her again on Tuesday for some test results.

@VivaLaDani13 I prefer my doctor to most doctors I have had to see. I wish I could just go to him.

I don't remember having bad experiences with docs before. Most of them have been friendly, talkative and sympathetic. It's good that you found a doc who was actually compassionate and treated you as you deserved. All doctors should make sure to make their patients feel better no matter what is going on. I hope with all the diagnosed and the right medication you get well. :) Hugs

@jvicentevalera I'm glad you've had no bad experiences with doctors! That's good! I agree with you 100%. It shocks me when doctors treat their patients otherwise. And thank you very kindly!

@id_peace Yeah it seems a lot of people don't like going. My dad hates it which annoys me at times because he doesn't go when he really should.

I am so glad to hear you got this truly caring doctor to help you. I hope you feel better soon Dani. I do not have a good doctor. The one I have is very uncaring. It is tough to find a doctor with my kind of insurance.

@Courage7 Thank you very much. I am so glad I found her. She's the best doctor I've ever seen. I am sorry that you don't feel thrilled about your doctor. That's not good! I hope you are able to find a better doctor one day. I'm annoyed to hear others going through this because doctors are supposed to be good at helping and listening.

@VivaLaDani13 Yes they are taking that oath yet if you saw how uncaring they are here, it is really uncool. Thanks Dani
