A snowy Saturday here in the land of the horse race. It’s always good to think about the Kentucky Derby when it snows, because that means May and usually warmer weather (although it did snow on Derby Day 30 years ago...I remember that clearly because that was the year I bought my house). It’s visual this time around, with very little impact on the roads (even my subdivision streets were fine). Let’s celebrate with music! Here’s another song with “time” in the title. #3: Time for Me to Fly - REO Speedwagon I’m sure most people saw this one coming. REO in their prime, before the smarmy pop power ballads (none of which even came close to matching the greatness of this one) and the divisions that drove the band apart. I saw REO on the Tuna Fish tour, as part of my second-ever rock concert. THE main highlight of the day for me was Thin Lizzy, but REO was great, too. This is my favorite REO Speedwagon song. When I hear that garbage they put out in the 80s (after Hi Infidelity) I put this song on (along with others, like “Golden Country”) and remember how good they were.
