Finally Lohri is here.
The popular fire festival is celebrated on 13th January every year.
Lohri is the only festival which is celebrated on Georgian Calendar despite being associated with Punjab, India and HIndu-Sikh relations.
Traditionally lohri is celebrated to welcome the sun to the northern hemisphere. which is known as Makar Sankranti, this happens at the end of peak of winter. and follows the harvest of the rabi crops by farmers especially in Punjab. However this all is changed.
Now Lohri is not celebrated as per Hindu Calendar or harvesting rabi corp the following day; we just traditionally celebrate on 13th January as fixed date.
Lohri is celebrated at Night, people gather and circle around of burning fire, respect the fire deity, offer the corps especially jaggery, sesame seeds, popcorn, peanuts; share, eat and enjoy the way.

I read a little about the fest. Sikhs and Hindus celebrate the festival, right? And not everywhere, just in Punjab? That’s interesting! I hope you enjoy the celebration!

You mentioned the other festival Holi in a different discussion. I have never heard of this festival. I learned something new. You say that it happens at the end of the peak of winter. Is it very cold when you celebrate? Or just a mild chill in the air?
