I just wanted to see what all ya'll are up to.
I'm happy, I have 3 live little pine trees I bought myself for Christmas and only one of them isn't doing well, I suppose that's par for the course, the other 2 seem to be doing really well.
That picture is of west El Paso down in the upper valley and about half way down you can see New Mexico. I was on Loop 375 heading west when I took this back in september 2018.
Would you believe that whole area down there was mostly fields of alfalfa or cotton back in the1970s? There are still a few fields of alfalfa or cotton left but not nearly as much as there was when the Rio Grande River was visible from that same spot I was on, there's rarely any water in that river anymore.
They call it progress, I call it destruction.
So, how's things in your neck of the woods?

Is the water issue with that river also possibly due to lack of rain? Even though I like when there's no snow like we're having this year, the lack of snow does heavily impact our great lakes.
I climbed some mountains in NM in the eighties, but other than that I've no idea where on this picture NM might be. Lovely picture though, and I was surprised to find this on the side bar of a newbie's post seconds ago and it caught my eye. Especially since you just wrote it today. I didn't realize they may make it to the side bar that quickly.
Good luck on your pine trees. If the weather isn't cold there, or even if it is, that one sad pine tree may do better outside for a bit. I've had other house plant-trees do better in our summer months outside than they do inside, but I don't know your area this time of the year.

NM controls how much water is released due to their man made lake Elephant Butt, they allow enough for AG and Farmers but not enough to keep it flowing regularly. It starts in Colorado and if there isn't sufficient snow then there won't be much of a flow.
I've put a red line around the area where NM is. I hope that helps.
Thank you for the kind wishes, I hope they'll make it too, I'll try your idea..

@rebelann At first I didn't understand why you put the same picture up until I saw your circle. Thanks. And I should have considered other areas stopping the flow or making it worse as that happens to smaller rivers that go the length of much of the state around here, although here it's cities and their dams that impact the river not different states.
Our problem is flooding when we're already getting too much rain. Our rivers at least those that travel through several cities don't dry up much even after years like this one where snow is scarce. The lack of snow will affect the shore lines of the Great Lakes right away, but the rivers seem to manage okay.

I imagine most people who have never lived in my desert would have realized that @just4him kinda like I have a hard time imagining what having season changes is all about. Compared to your area I'd think this area only has 2, hot and not so hot .... the not so hot part is what I call cold and you would probably consider the beginning of fall.

I hope it was not too cold, here it was -2(c) overnight but will be at least 13(c) by noon. It is too cold for me but there are people in the north who believe it is comfortable

The weather in my area is a little bit cold. Plus I have a scheduled operation to make sure I am not at risk for colon cancer coming up soon.

I think more people today would undo those man made lakes if they could but first we'd have to learn how to build aquifers like the ones the Romans built.
