Retail inflation declined to an 18-month low of 2.19 % by end of December 2018 in India, mainly due to sliding prices of fruits, vegetables and fuel. This should come as a huge relief to Indian public, mainly middle class, lowe-middle class and lower class. Inflation was 5.21 % in December 2017. I feel the single most important factor was sliding global crude oil prices, since India is one of major oil importing nations in the world.
