The Baby Has Arrived

Yesterday Martin’s daughter, my stepdaughter Mara had the baby! It is a bouncing baby boy they named Mikelis which is a Latvian name but in English could translate to Mike. The bouncing baby boy came in at a whopping close to 8 pounds. That was exciting news and then I realized I was a granny. Been trying to forget how the years are going by and here I am a granny. I included a photo I put on Facebook of Grandmama Addams. I think we both have a natural kind of beauty. The arrival of my grandson got me to singing In them Old Cotton Fields Back home by Johnny Cash since the song begins when I was a little, bitty baby. Now she won’t be cradling the baby in any cotton fields but Latvia does have a lot of scenic countrysides. A photo of the little darling will be added when she sends me photos on Friday after she gets home from the hospital. I just love modern technology just had a baby and already texting from the hospital. Google image I think Grandmama Adams and I have true beauty

Thank you. Oh, I will enjoy it but until we can get together at least I can send him presents now and then. I already send things she would need in December so he will be wrapped up warm leaving the hospital and a two months supply of Pampers awaits him at home @DianneN

Thank you. Yes, the baby is saving her from being depressed. She really misses her dad (my late husband) and before the baby, she kept writing and saying she was feeling really down but now hey, she has a bouncing baby boy to love. I suggested naming him after her dad but she couldn't do that and call him in his name.

Now I have to say lucky you since I cannot see the baby and it might be a long while before they might decide to come to visit me in the states @wolfgirl569

Thank you @JamesHxstatic now comes the time for present sending. I sent the first necessities in December. I asked her if she was having twins but it was just one whopping baby boy.

Thank you @JudyEv I don't think that I would go to visit somehow the thought of returning to Latvia still chokes me up but perhaps when Mikelis is two or three she and her husband might come to visit me. They really want to see the US.

@RasmaSandra Maybe you'll feel differently when more time has passed but it would be lovely if they visited you.

Thank you. I was glad to hear everything was fine but of course, with them being so far away all I can do is keep in touch. I had already sent things for the baby in December so I know when she leaves the hospital she will have a warm blanket to wrap him up in. Photos will be coming up when she gets home from the hospital.

Thank you @FayeHazel I can just imagine what dear Mikelis is thinking these days and wait until he gets home. His mom, Mara has a large friendly dog Marko and a grumpy cat. Plus even though bedridden there is also her mom's mom Mikelis great grandmother.

@FayeHazel the Latvian alphabet has a soft sound not pronounced in English so I would say Mike - lis
