How long do you predict the government shutdown in USA will last? Who do you blame for the shutdown and are you personally affected?

It's hard for me to predict. We have a stubborn "president" and a Congress that is not interested in a wall. Who is to blame? That's pretty obvious.

'Stubborn' is a rather kind way to describe this president.

I do not know what is happening in the US government and I really do not care because they did not bring anything good to my country. I just hope that people who live there will be happy.

Personally I'll be a lot happier when this president is gone.

@TheHorse those poor puppies. That's something I never would have thought about being affected by the shutdown.

I do too. And there are many trickle-down effects. My brother, who rescues dogs, was telling me that there is currently no oversight of the "puppy mills" that often mistreat dogs before selling them.

I'm not sure how much longer this will go, at day 35 it doesn't seem as though it is going to end anytime soon. I'm not personally affected by it. As for who is at fault...We all (USA) are, we voted in these people, we allow these people to stay in power and make these kinds of choices, we allow them to lie, cheat, and steal to get to where they are and to stay there. 90% of them could careless about us until it comes time to vote then they will tell us anything we want to hear if it is going to get them a vote.

I agree only we the people have the power to change things, mainly by voting, but also, very important, staying informed and keeping in touch with our representatives. We elected them. We pay their salaries.

As an outsider from the UK I am astonished that such a situation could arise in the first place never mind drag on as long as it has

Believe me, many of us are astonished by many things that have been going on in our government for the past two years. I'm also astonished that many of his supporters still support him. I hope we'll get back to normal some day soon.

@ThreeTeddies Two more years, but I'm hoping he is either removed or resigns before then. I don't know how much more we can take.
